Spaghetti Sauce by Bobbie Brashear

Spaghetti Sauce by Bobbie Brashear
Serves-- 4 to 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Onion finely chopped
  • 1 Carrot finely chopped or grated
  • 4 or more garlic cloves to taste finely minced
  • Olive Oil to brown meat
  • 2 (28 oz. cans) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 T. sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 T. Italian seasonings
  • 1 Bay leaf
  •   pinch of Anise (optional)
  • 1 T.  Oregano


Lightly brown onions, carrot and garlic in Olive Oil.
Stir in Tomatoes, Tomato paste, and dry ingredients. Simmer gently for about
2 hours. While sauce is simmering you can brown about a l-lb of ground beef
or Italian sausage in skillet. Drain off grease and add to meat sauce. Cover
and simmer for about 1/2 hour longer. Stirring occasionally
